So I Met This Girl….

05.25.2013 by James // 1 Comment

If you have been wondering what happened to me, it is simple. I met this girl, and a surprising and wonderful thing happened….

A short whirlwind of dating and sharing adventures from the Great Plains to the Gulf of Mexico to the Extraterrestrial Highway in Nevada to the New England coast, and I knew I had found who I wanted to be with for the rest of my life. After a proposal in Death Valley last year, we decided to have a quick wedding rather than spend a year planning the event. So several weeks later and on stage of an outdoor festival, we exchanged vows and rings and my story changed to something filled with much more laughter and light.

Since then, I have moved and flourished in life and in my technical consulting, photography, and love of nature – even thinking a few thoughts and making a few images. So you can expect to hear much about my world in the future.

Ten Laws of Pricing for Consultants

It’s a nervous moment. Name a price too high, and your prospect will walk to one of you many competitors. Yet, name a price too low, and you may resent the work or worse, not be able to put enough time into the project to do a great job.

What power do words have to affect others? And how can written words lead to good conversations?

The fourth in a starting series of five posts, this post introduces you to the section of my site focusing on words.

From Words to Conversation

Once, thousands of miles from home on a business trip, I was given a stranger’s office to use for the day as they were out of town. Being a curious sort, I was looking at the small bits of wisdom printed out and posted on their corkboard while waiting on a friend. Surprisingly, I found a small essay I had written long before on CompuServe had been printed out and pinned to the board.

I never did meet that person or find out how my words had touched them enough to save and display. But it was the first time that I truly realized that my words thrown out into the ether could touch another and help them. It was a very humbling experience, and it showed me that my words can help others.
